Crossings Winery
Cabernet Franc,
Zabala Vineyard,
Snake River Valley, Idaho, 2012
Neil Glancy’s Cabernet Franc from Zabala Vineyard is captivating from the start. This third grape of Bordeaux, behind Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, achieves celebrity status in Glancy’s capable hands.
Luscious with a mélange of fruits---raspberries, marionberries, boysenberries, but especially baked cherries---supported by dried cranberries, the merest hint of leafy minty-green, and soft, spicy clove in the finish, the Cabernet Franc trickles down the throat and leaves a warm glow…then a desire for another sip. The soft tannins never intrude; Glancy has them, somehow, in absolute perfect harmony with the wine.
(And if you drop in at the Crossings Winery, or go to the Wine Club on their website
http://www.crossingswinery.com/, it is priced at $18.50. That's right: $18.50!)
}Jenise, if Fritz can make it there, Crossings has by all accounts a pretty good restaurant on the premises. Also a more casual tavern.{
