Pear-blossom nose, ripe pear fruit, slightly honeyed with (we both thought) suggestions of botrytis; finished dry and even a little astringent, becoming reminiscent at the back end of Chenin. I have very little experience with Roussette/Altesse so I don't know how characteristic this wine was, but it was sure complex and engaging, bringing together a wealth of flavors and textures that wouldn't necessarily seem to go together easily into a well-integrated whole. Very good and very interesting.
