2010 Stolpman Estate Syrah, from my off-site cellar and was surprised and very pleased to see it. Very dark purple/black and mostly plum flavors to begin but as time evolved, an excellent raw beef note presented itself and became more dominant. This may be my last bottle (BOO-HOO) and is probably 2-4 years from peak but very enjoyable now. very nice complexity as it evolved in the glass. 14.1% abv
I've really liked the later Stolpmans. Not sure if he's gone through an actual stylistic change but it's my perception that his wines have dialed back on heavy ripeness and become more tangy and svelte.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
We have had the Stolpman wines on our shelves throughout the years and I have noticed the style change as well. All in all great wines! Currently have the 2014 Syrah and I am looking forward to revisiting!
