Tried this wine last night w/ my pasta:
1. BlackSwift Calif Red Blend (15.5%; 80% Syrah/20% Grenache) Winemaker: CarolinaBistue/Winters 2015: Med.color; strong fragrant plummy/blackberry/Syrah slight strawberry/Grenache fairly attractive nose; rather soft slight tangy/metallic rather earthy/plummy/blackberry/Syrah/boysenberry slight mushroomy flavor w/ light gentle tannins; long soft plummy/blackberry/Syrah/strawberry ripe bit soupy finish w/ light ripe/smooth tannins; an altogether pleasant bit simple/soupy Syrah/Grenache blend of the level of the TablasCreek Patelan. $24.00 (AV)

1. A bit confusing here. BlackSwift is named after the black swift birds common in the USofA. There is also a Black Swift wnry that makes wines from the OkanoganVlly in BritishColumbia. No relation that I can tell. Presumably, the grapes for this wine came from Winters, in SolanoCnty just West of Davis. Not much info out there on Carolina Bistue.

2. Just got back from RhoneRangers & NEB#7 out in Calif, late last night. Exhausted from travelling about NorCal, seeing friends.
Ohhhh...and there was wine involved. Much to report on.
