WTN: BottomFeeding SummerWines @ TJ's w/ Jenise..(short/bori

A Seattle friend recommended these TJ's cheapies as good values. Having been one of the ParkerSheep from the very start, I decided it might be time to become one of the JeniseSheep:
1. Blason de Bourgogne Chard AC: Macon-Villages (www.Blason.com; 12.5%) 2015: Light gold color; pleasant Chard/melony/appley light earthy/chalky slight oak rather nice nose; lightly tart rather Chard/melony some earthy/chalky/stony light vanilla/oak flavor w/ med.long finish; an altogether pleasant/balanced Macon at a very attractive price; nothing profound but speaks in a quiet voice of Chard and Macon. $8.00 (TJ)

2. Revelation Chard IGP: Pays d'Oc (12.5%) Badet-Clement/l'Etang-Vergy 2015: Pale gold color; very light Chard/melony/appley/perfumed talc light valve oil light earthy/stony somewhat interesting nose; rather soft/fat riper light appley/Chard slight metallic/valve oil slight tangy flavor; med. light apple/quince/Chard light stony/perfumed talc slight metallic/valve oil finish; speaks quietly of Chard & a bit more interesting but would like more acidity. $7.00 (TJ)

3. LaPromenade Ad'OC: Cotes de Provence (13.5%; www.LatitudeWines.com) Badet-Clement 2015: Light garnet/watermelon color; somewhat earthy/dusty light spicy/Grenache/strawberry/watermelon rather fragrant/attractive nose; some tart/tangy bright strawberry/Grenache/spicy rather earthy/dusty flavor; very long spicy/cranberry/strawberry/Grenache light earthy/stony finish; a totally dry spicy very pleasant rose if a bit on the bland side. $10.00 (TJ)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. So Jenise was pretty much right on, I thought, w/ these three wines. I liked the Revelation the best of these. Most Pd'Oc Chards are rather tart/austere (from an early harvest) and seem rather eviscerated. This one was not. All three were a little bit too far into the bland/boring territory and I would not go back and buy them again. But I would have no problem recommending them to someone looking for a cheap Summer party wine. They are good enough for my Susan and Jenise, but not something TomHill....sniff/sniff...would deign to drink.

Tom, fair enough. Not surprised that you preferred the Revelation--from your notes, you drink more new world wines than old (where I am the reverse). I too liked it, just not as much as the more minerally Blason. The rose--I had another bottle on Saturday. Where on Thursday it showed wonderfully in big cabernet glasses where, on Saturday, Libby tulip glasses de-accentuated aromas and finish and made the mid-palate fruit all about sweetness. Yuck. Choice of glass matters a lot with that one.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
