A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Corvina is a red grape of the Veneto and blended into Valpolicella and Bardolino. It's not grown much in Calif and Brian's is the only Calif rendition I know of.

2. As we watched the sun set over the Jemez w/ the lights of LosAlamos twinkling on the PajaritoMesa and the bats soaring around us feasting on the bugs attracted to the string of lights, some coyotes howling down in the arroyo, it was a beautiful evening tempered by the realization that this was probably the last dinner Susan's neighbor, Fabrizia, will be able to join us for. Her body is being racked by the spreading liver cancer and she's failing rapidly. Very feeble, she kept asking us if she could help w/ the dinner. She was a Marchesa in Northern Italy and came to the US when her father was named the Italian ambassador to the US right after the War. Her regal bearing comes thru loud & clear even as her life is winking out. And she still loves her red wine, in this case leftover Teroldego.
