Okay, I'm in Traverse City, MIchigan (which is absolutely beautiful, btw) in a less than posh hotel that will accept pets. At the very last minute, before heading out the door, I tossed my usual travel glasses, Riedel Os, and decided I would rough it and cast my wine geekiness to the winds. However, I did pack my ESJ Bone-Jolly rose'... a lovely 2016 gamay noir rose' that I have enjoyed sipping this summer. So, now, confronted with the typical thick, squatty, scotch on the rocks (?) glasses, I'm settling in to enjoy my wine. Much to my surprise, the wine is dancing and pirouletting in this glass! At home, I use a standard stemmed Riedel red wine glass, with no complaints. Now, I am getting HUGE , rich sweet cherries on the nose, the lush ripe strawberries (as always) on the tongue with just a hint..only a hint..of blueberries on the finish. Obviously, this is an outstanding wine. My amazement and amusement has been the benefit of the common glass over the esoteric one...or is it just me in a great venue?
Who knows?
