2006 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon Special Selection Napa Valley
My ExpensiveCalCab-loving neighbors were up for the weekend so Bob and I opened this, poured ourselves each a glass and passed the rest of the bottle over the fence. This isn't a long-haul wine and doesn't require any fancy decanting--just pop, pour, drink. It's fruit-driven and low-acid (in ways I don't like) but thank god it's an "off" vintage as it has just enough character to stop this side of sappy and be entertaining.

Shocked, I am, Jenise...that you would lower your standards to actually drink Caymus SS Cab...and admit it in
a public forum. I don't know when the last time was that I...sniff/sniff...drank a Caymus Cab. I expected better of you!!

So what do they pass over the fence in the other direction? Do they keep a stash of trocken Scheurebe and stemmy fog-belt Pinot in their basement to share with their AFWE buddies?
cheers, Patchen

You're not giving me credit, Tom! I got rid of a bottle I'm not going to love (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=56368&p=451710&hilit=Caymus#p451710) and at the same time made points with a great neighbor. It's all good.

Off the top of my head, among others we've seen some nicely aged Montelenas, Karl Lawrence, Kapscandy, Shafer 150 or 1.5 or whatever it is, and O'Shaughnessy come over that fence, as have a few $100 WA cabs. Mikey loves some good stuff, but I know he also loved the 2012 Caymus 40th Anniversary Cab--so sweet and goopy is in his wheelhouse too.

And meanwhile the scientist on the other side buys Cameron Hughes wines by the case. I'm the right person person to be in the middle, and we're all friends. Wouldn't trade either one of them!
