WTN: I'm blushing

2015 Teutonic Wine Company Pinot Noir Rosé Laurel Vineyard Chehalem Mountains
Zingy but sweet enough for us to dust off old memories of white zinfandel. A perfect mother-in-law wine but it's definitely not for us.

One of the things I wish would take off in some form in the U.S. is sweetness labeling. Being a fan of off-dry German wines of all stripes, I don't mind sugar per se, but I do want to know when I'm going to find it. Rose is definitely one of those styles where lightness of body and flavor is a positive, and so I can see the slight sweetness wearing poorly.

I agree, Walt. I'm in Teutonic's club and actually enjoy the grab-bag approach to getting to taste nearly everything he makes, but like you I prefer not to be surprised by sweetness. Case in point: I took a different Teutonic rose, which bottling had been delightfully almost-off-dry in a prior vintage, to a friend's home recently and was shocked and embarrassed by how sweet it was--we saved it for dessert where it was sweet enough to pair with strawberry shortcake.

In British Columbia, they have a system of 0 to 4 or 5 to indicate sweetness. It might only be used on VQA approved wines, but when it's there it's quite helpful.
