Tasting the great 1992 Henri Bonneau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Marie Beurrier, many years ago, made me look out for more similar stuff, although 1992 it is not considered a great/ageworthy vintage for red CdP.
Recently I managed to get hold of 6 bottles of 1992 Château La Nerthe Châteauneuf-du-Pape from a retailer. This lot seemed to be non-selling for a while hence waiting for a vintage romantic like me

4 out of 6 bottles proved the theory to be right (basic 1992 CdP being over the hill). However the other 2 bottles were (still) so good that the whole deal finally made sense to me:
Seductive scent of fresh pomegranante, hip, raspberries, quince and faded roses underpinned by notes of dry earth, "goût de gibier", incence, pepper, herbs. Confirming these refreshing, luscious aromatics and overall harmony on the palate. Medium concentration and lenght. Being light on its feet it always makes you want to take another sip. The Burgundian-like fruit/tannin combination presented by this wine seems atypical for CdP. - What a nice wine nevertheless! Drink it up if you're holding it. - Cheers, Rainer
