JC--stop buying!

by JC (NC) » Sat Aug 05, 2017 5:33 pm

Yikes, I just counted some of my wine pending delivery in the fall or awaiting pickup in Raleigh and it is almost five cases (in quantities of 1-4 bottles) And I'm sure there are other wines I ordered but neglected to add to pending orders on CellarTracker. I've got to up my consumption, throw some more wine tastings, and stop buying.

I hear you Jane. I have a mostly full cellar and have 6 outstanding internet orders totaling 40 bottles but most do not require lots of cellar time. Yeah, I'm not getting any younger and would hate to leave a cellar full of wine to my wife and pets!

I'm in a similar situation, but with my home made wines. Due to health issues over the past 3 years, I have not had the energy or ambition to bottle my wines. In my basement I have over 125 gallons of wine in carboys and another 26 gallons in a barrel. That means I have to clean, de-label and sanitize about 750 bottles before filling them.
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.

Also due to health issues my consumption is way down....not stopped but quite a bit less than previous. I have enough wine on hand here to undoubtably last the rest of my life and still I have almost 3 cases on order right now. It seems that part of my health problems may well be being soft in the head. Oh well....it will be a hell of a wake.
