WTN: Not so simple burger wine

by David M. Bueker » Mon Aug 07, 2017 7:41 am

2012 Matthiasson Red Wine - USA, California, Napa Valley (8/6/2017)
Burgers on the grill, so red wine is required, and this perfectly fits the bill. It complements the food rather than bury it. Black cherry and light cedar notes are supported by warm herbal tones and a dash of oak spice. Medium bodied, this does not weigh down the palate. It's got some tannin, all in balance with the fruit. Mid-term aging would likely increase complexity, but this is so fun to drink now, especially with those burgers!
