WTN: Picnic wines- whites, roses, CF, Malbec

No wine Monday (lamb stuffed peppers, “Israeli” street corn) or Tuesday (pork chops & kale). So Wednesday happy we had good weather and good wine at the park concert. Amazing young quartet (we were with 3 experienced jazz musicians, they were blown away by these kids) and good food- Betsy’s Asian chicken/rabe/ramen salad and peach/feta salad, some cecina and soppresatta, bbq chicken, grilled eggplant, etc.

2015 Bzikot Bourgogne Blanc
Good stuff, ripe pear and floral notes, good body, crisp acids with a mineral finish. Excellent value. B++

2013 Karthauserhof Ruwer Trocken
Totally dry, high acid, herby with a ginger note. Decent value. B

2016 Riotor rose
Strawberries and a little lemon zest, light and easy. B-/B

2016 Ch. de l’Eperonniere Rose
Loire pink. Raspberries, strawberry, a touch of grass. B/B-

2015 Alamos Malbec
Vanilla extract over sweet black cherry fruit, a bit gloppy, maybe better with a burger or something, not too appealing as a picnic wine. C+

OnaBay Cabernet Franc (North Fork, LI)
Unsure of vintage, was blinded on this one. Don’t think CF would have been first guess. Blackberry, black cherry, hint of oak. Moderate acids, slightly gritty tannins. B- (to be fair, really a one sip taste)

Fun night. No wine tonight (Bobby Flay’s chicken with herb sauce)

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

I think it was $14-15.
Just checked cc, it was $91.13 with nyc tax for 6 pack (3 '13, 3 '14) so just under $14/per.

That would be very fair value.
