2013 Demeter Zoltán Bóda dűlő Furmint (semi-dry white from Sátoraljaújhely, Hungary)
The vines are approximately 100 years old producing tiny clusters. Zoltán produced only 523 bottles of this wine in 2013.
The Bóda soil consists of red clay mixed with rhyolite whose characteristic is to become so hard when it is dry that it cannot be handled anymore.
Wild, vibrating acidity rising into the nose - you'd expect a bone-dry wine.
Airing brings salty minerality, ginger, herbs and pears into the picture.
On the palate it is fresh, characterized by stony spiciness and sweet yellow fruit, which shows light and transparent like watercolors.
The acidity is delicate and very well integrated into the structure. A wonderful wine revealing more and more of its secrets with every new sip. - My subjective rating: 93/100.
Cheers, Rainer
