Although I hadn't been seeking out 2015 Beaujolais, I was pretty impressed by an Antoine Sunier 2015 Morgon that came as part of a sampler from Caveau Selections in Portland a little while back -- actually, the first bottle we got was corked, but they kindly set aside a bottle for me and sent it with my next order. Deep, dark, muscular cherry fruit and stony earthiness; it's ripe, yes, but harmonious and not over-plush, and there's quite a bit of structure -- enough that this will likely improve with time in the cellar, too. This, I think, is the brother of Julien Sunier, whose Morgons and Fleuries have been showing up in the market here, and which I've quite liked; I haven't tasted Julien's '15s so can't do a direct comparison but the style here seems less filigreed, more burly, dark and brooding, in a good way. I'm glad I bothered to ask about replacing the bottle!
cheers, Patchen
