Ken Wright Cellars, Carter Vineyard, Willamette Valley, 2013
If you’re a Pinot Noir lover, Ken Wright needs no introduction. He has been in the forefront of championing exceptional single-vineyard Pinots throughout the Willamette. The Carter 2013 is one of them.

The wine brims over with intense, fresh, lively blackberry and ripe blueberry fruit, held together with bright acids. After a few moments in the glass, the wine breathes out and perfumes the air with the dark fruits, adding black figs and plums sprinkled with spices, both pepper- and baking-. Very much a new world wine, yet made with a restrained hand and guiding philosophy, it’s a great example of Pinot charm.
