Tried this w/ Sara's NorthDakota Artisinal Chocolate-covered PotatoChips:
1. ShenandoahVnyds Calif AmadorCnty Vintage Port (19%; Drk: '89-'90: LS) Plymouth 1985: Med.light some murky/brown color; some earthy/dusty rather olsPort/spirity not particularly alcoholic some grapey quite complex nose; lightly sweet spirity/oldPort smooth lightly grapey/earthy fully mature complex flavor w/ light smooth/gentle tannins; very long spirity/oldPort bit grapey light earthy/dusty rather complex finish w/ light smooth tannins; a beauitful example of a fully mature Calif Port.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This had been standing upright for months. There was still a lot of fine suspended sediment in the wine after decanting and a ton of goop in the bottom of the btl.
I was quite struck by the alcohol character. It was not the fumey/burning type you get in young fortified ports, but more a subtle spirity character that you find in old Cognacs.
LeeSobon is a big fan of dessert wins and has made a lot of exemplary ones over the yrs. This is his best Port that I can recall. OTOH, the BlackMuscat '84 we had last night w/ leftover potato chips was rather oxidized & shakey.
