14% abv . On the palate, tart fruit--boysenberry? Bold and powerful style. This is spicy--less pepper and more like a Middle Eastern spice blend. Best on the third evening after opening. I had this with corned beef hash the first evening and with ground beef tacos and black beans the second evening. I miss Babcock's Nook and Cranny Syrah from the past mailing list selections. The Nook and Cranny was made from a small plot of top-quality grapes. (Correcting my posting from yesterday that attributed the Nook and Cranny Syrah to Melville which is a neighbor of Babcock Vineyards.)

Melvilles are indeed bold and powerful. Friends are fans and I've been treated to a lot of 10-15 year old bottles that I wouldn't have bet on going that kind of distance.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
