WTN: Celebration wine

by Jim Grow » Tue Oct 03, 2017 8:59 pm

Our little yorkie mutt (8 lbs.) was gone from our wooded 38 acres for 6 hrs. today while I was gone and my wife was near hysterical.
We eventually gave up after much calling, walking and searching for her and figured a coyote had grabbed her. I was down in the wine cellar about to pick up some simple Argentine red to drown my sorrows when my wife shouted out that Gigi was home!!! This called for a more interesting wine so I opened a 2007 Stags Leap Cellars Artemis Cabernet. Not the most profound wine from Napa but one of my few 2007's. It was indeed nice with dark bramble and sour cherry fruit and a touch of sage. Tannins were more obvious on the finish so another 2-3 years would be appreciated for greater integration of parts. My stomach has finally unwound from its many knots! She is our little girl and glad she is home!

So glad your baby's home. I live in a coyote infested area too, and understand the fears.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
