2012 Von Schubert Maximin Grünhäuser Abtsberg Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (10/5/2017)
The last time I had this wine, in 2014, it was hopelessly reductive. Fast forward three years, and with several hours of air this was singing in the key of Abstberg. It was unmistakably Grunhaus. The cassis leaf and lime elements that mark Abstberg were right there, held in suspension by a crystalline framework with perfect balance of fruit, sweetness and acid. This has the balance to go a long time, and under screw cap might very well outlive me.
