Served this last night at BacchusBadBoys:
1. Weinhaus Kaisergarten Seewinkler Impressionen Pradikatswein Suss/Sweet Trockenbeerenauslese (9.5%; Staatl Prufnur L-E 66112/99) Moenchof/Neusiedlersee/Burgenland/Austria 1998: Very dark gold/some brown/light PX color; very intense botrytis/apricotty/peachy bit raisined/PX-like some earthy quite TBA slight volatile beautiful complex very intense nose; quite tart very intense sweet intense botrytis/apricotty/peachy/TBA rather raisined/PX-like complex flavor; very long/lingering intensely sweet rather tart raisined/PX-like intense botrytis/apricotty/peachy bit earthy/dusty complex oldTBA finish; a pretty classical old TBA; color is ugly but the flavors are terrific. $24.00/hlf

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. As best I can tell, this wine is made from Riesling. I was a bit surprised by the intensity of the raisined/PX-like character that was as strong as the botrytis character. Don't know much about this wnry or what other varieties they produce. They seem to specialize in dessert wines as best I can tell.

Sounds interesting. Does it say Riesling? If not I'd be more likely to guess a blend (or possibly Chardonnay).

Nope, Dale...doesn't mention Riesling on the label. I found one reference on the InterNet that it
contained Riesling. My first guess was maybe PinotBlanc.

I don't think I've run across a Riesling from Burgenland. (sure there are some) - mostly reds, with some white blends and Chards. The Ausbruch sweet wines are usually blends. I'd just think as Riesling dessert wines typically command a premium, if Riesling they'd mention

Found these:

http://www.vinopedia.com/winery/Weinhaus+Kaisergarten
Looks like most of their whites are Welschriesling, Chardonnay, or blends
