I love Esther's characterization of Steve's speech: "conspicuously free of glottal stops". I had to look that one up.
I especially liked the comment:
PatrickComiskey wrote:“If Randall Grahm brought the flash to the Rhone movement, Steve Edmunds brought the soul,” writes author Patrick Comiskey in “American Rhone,” the definitive history on this subject. Edmunds supplied “a framework for authenticity that faithfully served the movement through its early years and provided a kind of moral compass,” he continues.
The article (rightfully) gives credit to RonMansfield for his wines from ElDorado.
The article mentions "no marketing manager". Either it was an oversight to not mention Steve's marketing director, PamAnderson,
or Steve was too embarrassed to mention her. But when she's pouring at the EdmundsStJohn pouring table and leans over
to make the pour...the sales skyrocket.
Should I mention I've followed Steve from the very start...when his wnry was out back of the Oaks Card Shop in Emeryville??
Anyway, one of Esther's best articles about a guy we all know & love.
