After some dullards this weekend, I was in the mood for something good, so went (of course) w/ a Qupe:
1. Qupe Marsanne Sawyer-LindquistVnyd/EdnaVlly (80% Marsanne/20% Viog; Demeter certified; www.Qupe.com) santaMaria 2012: Light gold color; very fragrant/perfumed light appley/Marsanne strong Viog/pear/peach blossom very light pencilly/oak beautiful complex very aromatic nose; fairly tart/bit tangy light earthy very perfumey quite spicy/Viog/pear/ripe peach light appley/Marsanne light pencilly/oak quite rich/lush/spicy beautiful flavor; very long/lingering very perfumed strong pear/peach/Viog/spicy light appley/Marsanne finish; a beautiful/aromatic Rhone white that resembles Viog more than anything; the Marsanne gives it a tartness & structure that will take this out another 10-15 yrs; shows none (yet) of the nutty/oxidative character of an aged Marsanne; this is how J-L Chave would make Hermitage Blanc in the EdnaVlly if he could; a beautiful perfumed white Rhone at a stupid/silly price. $28.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Bob's Marsanne, from Ibarra-Young vnyd, usually has some Roussanne blended in to give it an aromatic lift. S-L has only (to my knowledge) Viognier, so he uses that for the aromatics. This is a world-class Marsanne.
