Pricing insanity

by Jenise » Wed Apr 04, 2018 1:56 pm

Been awhile since I've looked at the price of Screaming Eagle wines. Just got an offer: $2395/bottle, or $7185 if you'd like a 3-pack.

And just yesterday I tripped over the '12 Caymus Anniversary edition on Winebid. Starting bids: $175. I've got some to sell, who wants it! :)

$2400 is a lot less than an original Picasso, and each has about the same likelihood of being consumed.

Can we envision a temperature-controlled alcove in a massive McMansion lawyer foyer, with a single spotlight shining on THE bottle?

That's about what I picture, Brian!

It's only insane if nobody will pay it

True, that.

I noted to a friend that this is nothing for some people. For the typical S.E. customer, they spend less as a percentage of income than I probably do.

As for the conspicuous consumption angle, this is probably less egregious than a family of three who NEEDS a 10,000 square foot house.

We can still make fun of them, though.
