WTN: 2004 Château Pey La Tour (Bordeaux Supérieur AOC)

13.5% alc. Very dark albeit transparent garnet at the core with a dark-cherry-red meniscus. Legs form slowly after swirling. Dusty-violet Merlot-dominant nose framed by high-quality oak spice, coupled with a hint of Cabernet pyrazine - just a bit. Overall, the nose seems clean/fruit-oak New-Worldish, but all is not lost as the structure is pleasantly dry and tannic with very good mid-palate concentration and force. The finish is again Merlot-driven, but there is a good deal of firmness in the structure as well and this may derive from the other blending components. Dusty/tannic finish. Varietal proportions: 77% Merlot, 14% Cab Sauvignon, 8% Cab Franc, 1% Petit Verdot.

Apparently, this property was previously known as Clos de la Tour. There are some photos of the property and certain grape varieties at this link.
