Willi Schaefer 2002 Riesling Spätlese, Graacher Domprobst. I'd never peg this for 16 years old. Concentrated, fairly ripe stone fruit, red fruit, bitter peach-skin, lots of depth, but a little hard and unyielding on the back end. Not much in the way of tertiary development. That makes it sound less pleasant than it was; it was very good, but I suspect it could have gone another decade. Last bottle.
Ridge 2006 Sonoma County Carignane, Buchignani Ranch (ATP). The faint shadow of strawberry roll-up lingering on a blackened log. I like Ridge's Carignanes, but this one was over the hill.
Lodi Native / Fields Family Wines 2013 Lodi Zinfandel, Stampede Vineyard. The last from the six-pack of Lodi Native wines, and this is pretty good. ABV 13.9% (!), dark but not opaque ruby color, very bright cranberry-raspberry-brambly fruit with more concentration than the thinnish color suggests. Very old-school, almost to the point of austerity, but I enjoyed this more than the ones from this package that erred in the other direction.
cheers, Patchen
