Skinner 2015 El Dorado Grenache. We've had Mourvedres made with Skinner fruit, but never a wine from Skinner itself, so when this turned up on Pacific Standard Time's wine list, we went for it. Garnet color, intense strawberry perfume with some darker fruit on the palate, too; just a little bit of creamy vanilla makes itself known but mostly hangs out in the background, and there are just enough savory, herbal elements to the wine, as well as enough acid, to keep it out of jammy territory. A biggish, sunny wine that is nevertheless light on its toes. About half of this comes from Skinner's Stoney Creek vineyard, about a quarter from Fenaughty, and the rest from a mix of other sites; mostly aged in neutral oak, with 12% in new 300L hogsheads.)

Very satisfying -- and a great pairing with beet salad followed by a duck feast that the menu warned "feeds 3-5," but which we had no problem polishing off ourselves: sliced wood-roasted duck breast served with hearth-baked pita, muhamarra, yogurt, and pickled vegetables, along with a dough-covered casserole containing spiced duck kofte, white beans, bitter greens, and duck gravy.
