I Vigneri (Salvo Foti) 2016 Etna Rosso. This is young but very promising; there’s a lot of aromatic dark fruit, flowers, and a little licorice, good acidity, and a pretty severe tannic finish at the moment, but it also feels properly proportioned to develop into something really beautiful with a little time. Muscular without being overdone (and only 13%). I’ve not seen Foti’s Etnas in this market before and am pleased to have had a chance to try this.
cheers, Patchen
