Casting about for a white last night, I plucked out of the box:
1. Forlorn-Hope Picpoul RorickVnyd/CalaverasCnty (12.27%; 107 cs; www.ForlornHopeWines.com) Murphys 2014: Light gold color; very strong juicy/mango/Picpoul slight menthol/minty/spicy bit waxy slight chalky/perfumed talc beautiful/fragrant/aromatic nose; quite tart/tangy/bit grapefruity quite juicy/mango/Picpoul spicy/spearmint/waxy light stony/perfumed talc/chalky some lush/rich beautiful flavor; very long/lingering juicy/mango/pineapple/Picpoul quite tart/tangy juicy/spicy/spearmint clean/refreshing/lush bit chalky/perfumed talc very perfumey finish; a beautiful perfumy/juicy example of Picpoul far richer than the 12.27% suggests; one of the best Calif Picpouls (along w/ the Tablas Creek); doesn't have the austere/lean stony/minerality of Picpoul de Pinet; a world-class Picpoul. $30.00

1. I last tasted this Picpoul in July '15 upon its release. It seems to have developed much more aromatics and put on weight since then. A beautiful example of what Picpoul can do.
