NV Alfred Gratien Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Chardonnay
Although it's frankly useless to comment on NV wines--this lived up to my memory of Gratiens being especially complex and then some.
2014 Domaine Sangouard-Guyot Pouilly-Fuissé Quintessence Chardonnay
Pretty much full secondary development with hefty palate weight. Apple butter, pear tart, and a bit of onion skin. Excellent with the right food.
2014 Waits-Mast Family Cellars Pinot Noir Mendocino County
The cooler Mendocino climate shows: medium bodied with bright acidity. Very pleasant.
NV Champagne Copinet Champagne Blanc de Blancs Brut Chardonnay
Pears and lemons with a bit or brioche. Bright and creamy, excellent.
NV Champagne Copinet Champagne Brut Caractère Rosé Champagne Blend
Bright and dry with stunning complexity. J&A's bottle, but will order some for myself.
2007 Corliss Estates Red Columbia Valley Red Bordeaux Blend
Back in great form: fab concentration, lush red and purple flavors, a durable and sturdy wine with a long future ahead. Perfect for sharing with friends over the firepit where a subtler wine would have been wasted.
2014 Vocal Vineyards Pinot Noir Lilo Vineyard Santa Cruz Mountains
Androgynous of attitude with muscular minerality and perfumed fruit. Excellent. Drinks well now but has the stuffing for further development.
2011 Calera Pinot Noir Ryan Vineyard Mount Harlan
J&A's. Black raspberry fruit and spice loaded with enhanced secondary characteristics of loamy, foresty earth and incense. Took me back to my first Calera Jensen ages ago--I'd forgotten how unique and special Calera pinots are. No rush to drink--2021 or beyond.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
