Some friends who have been in Tahoe for several weeks got back, we had them (and their pup) over for dinner. While the dogs had (and hid) bones, the people had:

Oysters on half shell, and pignoli salami
NV Castellroig Cava
Light, crisp, herby notes, very dry. Good value at under $10. B/B-

Burrata caprese, followed by pasta with lobster and nduja ... r-pomodoro

2016 Feudi di San Gregorio Greco di Tufo
This didn’t really excite me, but it suffered from the spiciness of the njuda. Lemon, apricot, modest acids, a sweet note. B-

Cacio e pepe sausage, elotes, followed by fruit and cheese
2011 Felsina Chianti Classico
Drinking well- ripe black cherry, dried cherry, just a little earth and leather. Maybe a little riper/rounder than my Chianti ideal, but really tasty. B/B+

1985 Ridge Monte Bello (375)
I though this was absolutely lovely and a pointe. Balanced acids. Rich cassis fruit, leather, an almost Marthas-like eucalyptus/menthol note. Long earthyt finish. Wish this had been a 750! A-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
