So...I still have poor passive storage. And our air conditioning failed again in July. A very hot month this year
NONETHELESS, the 2011 Le Sage Merlot from Michel-Schlumberger in Dry Creek survived very, very nicely.
Delicious black cherry fruit with hints of plum. In other words, the fundamental fruit was not damaged at all. In fact, this bottle, which may be my last one, was even better than the last! This wine also has some Bordeauxesque earthy and savory notes. Perfect with smoked New York Strip Steak from Costco!
The white wine was also very fine-a 2016 Donkey and Goat skin contact Pinot Gris from the foothills. Definitely a copper color, with some of that tea character we all know and love (or hate).
A good wine evening, finished off with the amazingly creepy HBO limited series Sharp Objects.
