by TomHill » Mon Oct 15, 2018 9:30 pm

My F-H shipment arrived last week, so couldn't resist trying:
1. Forlorn-Hope Kind-Andrews WW SuisunVlly (11.66%; 47 cs; Last Vintage; TrousseauGris + CheninBlanc/
GreenHungarian/Vermentino/Chasselas; 50 cs) Murphys 2017
: Light yellow color; quite fragrant spicy/floral/carnations/bit RoterVeltliner-like slight chalky/perfumed talc bit pear/CB-like quite attractive nose; fairly tart/tangy/citric bright/floral/carnations/pear/bit RV-like/bit CB-like light chalky/perfumed talc very attractive/pretty flavor; very long/lingering rather tart/tangy/bit citric strong floral/carnations/pear/bit RV-like some chalky/mineral finish; a bit like the Carlisle or Bedrock Compagni-Portis but leaner & more mineral; a bit like a leaner RoterVeltliner; quite a pretty white that should become more aromatic & put on weight over the next few yrs. $36.50

1. Alas, this marks the end of MattRorick working w/ RogerKing's fruit. Not sure who'll be getting Roger's fruit from here on out.
Alas, it also marks the end of Matt's effort to take away the mantle for great GreenHungarian from FredWeibel and GusSebastiani. Matt took an interest in GH and got cuttings from TheLibrary vnyd in StHelena and got Roger to grow it for him. The GH never produced a wine that Matt particularly liked, so it was always blended into the King-Andrews. Anoth pipe dream shattered. Maybe someday will actually have a great GH in Calif once again.
