by TomHill » Wed Oct 17, 2018 1:35 pm

Needed a white last night, so cracked:
1. Forlorn-Hope Norgard CheninBlanc NorgardRanch/TalmageBench/Mendocino (47 cs; 14.3%; aged
20 mo. in neutral oak; http://www.ForlornHopeWines.com) 2011
: Med.dark gold/bronze color; very strong pear/CB/lightly herbal/new mown grass/fresh cut hay somewhat earthy/chalky slight nutty quite interesting/old-timey complex nose; lightly tart some rich/lush strong CB/pear/floral bit herbal/new mown hay quite dry some chalky/stony slight tangy/citric quite interesting flavor; very long some citric/tangy/tart fairly rich/lush totally dry strong CB/pear/floral some herbal/new mown hay some chalky/stony complex finish; certainly not at all like an aged Loire CB; not at all like anything I can relate to but a quite interesting bit rustic/old-timey kind of Calif CB; still will go on for another4-8 yrs I would guess. $30.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Certainly a higher-alcohol white for Matt. Not at all like a Loire, and not your usually tutti-fruiti style of Calif CB. Kind of an old-timey Calif white. Probably what he was trying to achieve w/ his GreenHungarian effort (RIP).
