2008 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese 'Rotlay' - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (1/21/2019)This wine is at the wonderful crossroads, where fruit and non-fruit elements combine to create something much greater than either can be on its own. Ripe apple and smoke, fresh peach and petrichor, sweetness and fresh acidity all play a part, creating something that can only be German Riesling.

Rotlay is one of my favorite wines! It can be so different from year to year. Sadly I only had one '08 and it is long gone. Still have '10 and '11, have had a hard time finding it lately.
