2013 A. et P. de Villaine Aligoté Bouzeron
Not the fresh flavor I was expecting; an auction purchase. After reading other notes on CT, I'm thinking this one might have been a tad cooked.
But things turned around with this bottle:
2015 Daniel Bouland Morgon Corcelette Vieilles Vignes Gamay
It's a great compliment to the wine that Xavier Auerbach's note on CT, though written 22 months ago, captures what we found in the wine last night, so I'll quote: "Has real black (cherry) fruit depth and intensity on the nose; ripe and full palate, but does not lose its Gamay fragrance and elegance, fresh and silky, ripe skin phenolics, lowish acidity; blueberry finish, good length." I would only add the notable presence of violets on the nose. In fact, blind, I might have thought it Fleurie rather than Morgon. Yet another Beaujolais that required me to turn to Bob and comment that I do think I could be happy drinking nothing but Beaujolais for the rest of my life.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
