2010 Wind Gap Wines Syrah Armagh Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (3/3/2019)
There is still lots of time for this wine, but it gives a lot of pleasure now. Deep red fruit, black pepper, roasted meat and cinnamon & cedar spice are backed by fresh acidity and moderate tannins. The best aspect of the wine is it’s palate depth. It’s hard to get to the bottom of it. Right at the back end there is a deep umami element, combining the crispy, seasoned edges of a properly cooked roast with a dash of soy. Fascinating stuff.

Opened to toast Pax Mahle (Wind Gap wine maker) who is dealing with serious flood issues at his new Pax Winery.
