2011 Enfield Wine Co. Tempranillo Shake Ridge - USA, California, Sierra Foothills, Amador County (3/6/2019)
Rounding into maturity, as the leather, earth and spice elements take center stage, supported by deep red fruit. There's still plenty of stuffing, so the dusty finishing tannins are not a problem. Maybe another 12-18 months before this is fully into tertiary, and I'll leave my last bottle for at least that long, just to see what happens. Overall this has been a successful first vintage of Tempranillo for John Lockwood at Enfield. His more recent vintages show an even more deft handling of the variety, so they should evolve quite well over time.
