Shared this ystrday w/ Paul:
1. Cave des Onze Communes Torrette Dd'OC: Vallee d'Aoste (13%; www.CaveOnzeCommunes.it; 75% PetiteRouge/25% Vien de Nus, Cornalin e Premetta; HandPickedSlctns/Warrenton/VA) 2016: Med.dark color; very fragrant floral/violets/lilacs almost Pinot-like light alpine/earthy lovely perfumed nose; lightly tart/tangy lovely floral/violets/lilacs/bit spicy light earthy/loamy flavor w/ light gentle tannins; very long bright/floral/violets/lilacs/alpine flowers fairly tart light earthy/loamy/dusty rather high-toned/Pinot-like finish w/ light bit tangy tannins; doesn't have the strong earthy/loamy/rustic character of many Val d'Aosta reds; reminds a bit of Sudtirol Schiava, a bit of OR PinotNoir; an absolutely lovely/pretty alpine red at a great price; a lovely Vin de Soif. $17.50 (KK)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This wine comes from a co-operative of some 220 members, scattered the length of the Val d'Aosta. By definition, Torrette must be at least 75% PetiteRouge.

Always happy to hear about Valle d'Aosta wines. That ethereal flowery character haunts me. Thanks for the note. It's interesting that so many good wines come from cooperatives, which is not the norm in my experience.
