WTN: Isolation Celebration

by Jim Grow » Wed Apr 08, 2020 9:15 pm

First the bad news, my first of 4 bottles of Louis Latour Beaune Celebration 2015 was CORKED!! This is my only red Burgundy label so I opened another bottle immediately. Light herb on the nose and sour cherry and a gamey/raw meat note add complexity but nothing very intense at all. I'll reserve judgement until tomorrow with the rest of the bottle but I have my doubts.

On the positive side, if one of your four bottles was corked, it's probably better that you opened it first so that it's identified and out of the way.

Unfortunately, you won't actually know how many of the four bottles are corked until they are all open...

This is some special bottling or something? Village level?

Are you sure Latour? Louis Jadot has a 1er blend called Celebration

Yes Dale, you are correct. It is Jadot (senior moment) as I was about to correct. I had the rest of the bottle with lunch just now and it turned simple and became a generic red wine. My last two I might let rest for a couple years but have little hope of impending greatness. I need to get down to Athens to my other cellar!

I have only ever had a small taste of the 2015, back when it was released, and it seemed like a more structured version of the 2009.

Maybe shut down now?

Jadot is very strong with their Beaune 1ers, I'd bet on shut down.
