2019 Massican Annia - USA, California, Napa Valley (7/17/2020)This is the best vintage of Annia that I have had. It has all the fresh citrus and floral elements I am used to, but the palate has a much greater richness and depth of flavor than any prior year, while still retaining the same fresh acidity. It’s quite an extraordinary wine. Blend of Tocai Friuliano, Ribolla Gialla and Chardonnay.

Going on about a year since I first had this wine, and it’s even better now. The parts are more integrated, the texture more supple, despite the fresh acidity. It feels more complete, from the hay and tangerine-tinged opening through the creamsicle on a hot day finish. It’s ice cream truck jingle fun.
