Lockdown Wine # 65. Fried some foie gras tonight so this was appropriate. Deep orange gold. Apricot, caramel, marmalade, baked apple, apple skin, sweet spices. Pretty complex. Not that heavy, which makes it rather easy to drink. Good length. The marmalade is quite prominent on the finish, and the bitterness of the marmalade makes a nice counterpoint to the sweetness. Drink this very cold. Very good by itself, and excellent with foie gras.

ZH VT and foie is a pairing I have enjoyed many times over the years, most notably at a dinner with Robert Parker back in 2003. My how time flies.

That non VT Indice 5 would have been nice as well. I still have half the foie gras left. Maybe Huet Constance or 1er Trie next; or possibly an Auslese or BA.
