Trivia: Wine "Days"

by Pat G » Sat Nov 07, 2020 8:50 pm

For those who need an excuse.

Merlot (International) November 7
Tempranillo (Intl) Nov 14
Zinfandel (US, of course) Nov 20
Carmenere Nov 24
Cabernet Franc Dec 4
Repeal of Prohibition ( I threw this in:worth celebrating!) Dec 5
Champagne (Duh) Dec 31

Have some of the above, and just may open around those dates.

Zinfandel is grown and made in other countries, and US Zin is exported so it really should be an International Day and excuse to celebrate.

Agree, but technically it is listed as National Zin Day. And when I checked today it is the 3rd Wednesday each November. So this year it is Nov-18. Must update my geek spreadsheet.

We call call it International. Why not?

Seems to be debate about US Zin vs. Italian Primitivo. Same grape or not? Have tasted both, but not side-by-side. Not sure....
