A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Bucklin: This was a planting made recently at OldHill as a tribute to the old-time whites they used to make in Sonoma.
Will wrote:Our Mixed White block was established on Old Hill Ranch in 2011 as an ode to the unheralded white grape varieties found in many of Sonoma's historic field blends. Muscat, French Colombard, Chasselas, and Clairette Blanc cuttings came from Old Hill Ranch, Gewürztraminer, Trousseau Gris and Riesling came from Compagni-Portis Vineyard, Muscadelle from Casa Santinamaria, Malvasia and Grenache Blanc from Rossi Ranch and Chenin Blanc from Carlisle.
They did a good job replicating those wines. It reminded me a lot of the old Sebastiani GreenHungarian but w/ more perfume. A real trip down memory lane, back when I was drinking Sebastiani because it was pretty hot-$hit back in Kansas. I can just see ole Gus Sebastiani, all dressed in his trademark striped bib overalls (once met him there when he was pouring in the tasting room), taking as sip of this and uttering "You youngsters did good on this. You did me proud".

2. Jaffurs: Dipping down again into my recent Jaffurs futures shipment. The Jaffurs BN comes from the same Hillside Block up atop the ridge above the wnry that goes to Lindquist (formerly Qupe) Family Wines and Ojai. The Jaffurs BN is almost always my favorite of the Jaffurs Syrahs, closely followed by the Thompson, which often is not quite as perfumed. This '18 BN is just about as good as SBC gets.
