WTN: Wuthering Heintz

2015 Ultramarine Rosé Heintz Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast (7/4/2021)
Don't drink this one too cold. At first it was a bit mute, but once it warmed up a bit there was crunchy, dry red fruit, and a finishing citrus snap. Good now, with lots of depth to the fruit, so a few years in the cellar should be just fine.

I have been up and down on the Ultramarine Rosé in the past (I adore their Blanc de Blancs), but this vintage is right up my alley.

Explosive mousse (the cork was ready to fly out the moment I touched it), boisterous red fruit and fresh acidity made this very easy to drink. I had to remind myself to slow down a little and appreciate it. Maybe it's a little simple at this early age, but it's still delicious. No rush here. It has plenty of depth for more serious cellar time.

Does the rose get its color from pinot noir? I've only had Ultramarine white bubbles, but I adored the pinks under the Cruse label.

Yes - Pinot Noir. There's also an Ultramarine Blanc de Noirs from Pinot Noir.

For me the Blanc de Blancs is champ, followed by inconsistent roses. The BdN has never approached being worth the price.
