- 2019 Bedrock Wine Co. Syrah X-Block Bien Nacido - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Maria Valley (8/1/2021)
Tasted over the course of 48 hours
Structured, stately, white pepper, red fruit and saline inflected herbs, this is not a fruit forward Syrah, but rather one of balance and grace. Honestly I was surprised at the elegance, expecting a little more luscious style. It’s fresh and showing sunshine, but nods to the Rhône. It was more open after 48 hours, so decant for a long time, or give it a few years in the cellar.

Yup, David .... I was a bit surprised by the elegance and restraint this wine showed. I was expecting it to taste like a Syrah made by a Zin producer. Somewhere between a Bedrock style and a Qupe style. Good stuff.
