Changes Afoot @ Sequoia Grove

Just found out that winemaker MollyHill and consulting winemaker MikeTrujillo have been fired at Sequoia Grove Wnry. Molly has been at SG since 2003 and Mike well before that.
Molly has been an excellent winemaker at SG & I've liked her wines... even the Merlot!!
Don't know anything on the backstory here. It was at one time owned by Kobrand.
I am the one responsible for the founding of SG when I inspired JimAllen to get excited about wine back in the late '70's.

Can't recall the last time I bought a Sequoia Grove wine. Didn't know they were still in business.

Had no idea Mike was still there. I met him back around 2000 or so at SG, and that's when I got to taste his Karl Lawrence project in a back room. Sadly the SG brand has zero buzz in the wine world these days. When a blogger friend got a sample of the cab about a year ago, my reaction was the same as Dave's.

Yup on your & Dave's take on the SG wines. They're good/solid wines at more than fair prices. I always taste
thru them w/ Molly when I'm out there. But that just lack that buzz to put them in the top tier of NapaVlly.
Molly's husband Lars is winemaker at Saddleback and I find those wines a bit more compelling.

Yup, Jenise... I assume you mean Mike rather than Dave?? He makes his own wines under the Mike Trujillo label that are quite good. Don't know where he actually makes those wines, though.
