More timofritters from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Timorasso is the northern Piemonte variety that was rescued from extinction by Walter Massa in the mid-'90's. In the village of Derthona where he was located. Now there are multiple producers of Timo and plantings are going on outside the Colli Tortonese region. Massa is the largest and most iconic producer of Timo and has several different levels & vnyds. His have been the best I have had.
Timo is easily my favorite white grape from the Piemonte. It has a perfume & fragrance even stronger than Arneis and much more richness & body. The Colombera IlMontino is probably the best Timo available here in NM, although apparently the WalterMassa Piccolo is now here as well. The Battegaazzori is one that was handcarried back by Grayson after his recent visit to Derthona. It apparently is not imported into the USofA. It is one of the best Timos I can recall having.
SamBilbro/Idlewild is the first to be growing Timo in Calif after it was brought back from Italy by BryanHarrington & cleaned up at FPS. He should have his first crop of Timo this last Fall, with the first btl destined for LosAlamos.
