2017 Fattoria di Fèlsina Berardenga Chianti Classico Riserva - Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Classico DOCG (11/8/2022)
Pop and pour, but it really needed a couple of hours of air. For the first 90 minutes or so it was quite stern, with a bitter cherry fruit profile, and assertive, drying tannins. Getting closer to the two hour mark the structure loosened up, the fruit became riper, and the balance hit a point where it didn’t absolutely require food to be pleasurable drinking. Definitely going to wait a few years before the next bottle, or at least splash it into a decanter well before dinner.
