Susan & I shared these two whites at DinDin last night:
1. Cantina Puiatti SauvBlanc DOC: Friuli (12.5%; TaubFamilySlctsn/BacoRaton/FL; www.Puiatti.com) Romans d'Isonzo 2021: Med.light yellow color; very strong quite herbal/weedy/SB/bit vegetal rather chalky/stony/mineral quite perfumed nose; fairly tart/tangy somewhat rich strong herbal/vegetal/weedy/SB/bit metallic some stony/chalky fairly intense flavor; very long some rich very strong herbal/weedy/vegetal/SB some chalky/stony slight metallic/tangy finish; much like a Loire SB but not as lean & more richness; somewhat atypical of Friuli SB & lacks the ripe/melony character they often show; a bit too herbal/vegetal to my tastes. $21.50 (KK)

EdmundsStJohn Bone-Dry Riesling Fairplay/Fairplay/SierraFoothills (11.8%; www.EdmundsStJohn.com) Thumbnail Moonlight/Fairplay 2018: Med.gold color; beautiful R/mango/pineapple very perfumed bit pungent/smokey/Mosel valve oil/petrol lovely fragrant nose; quite tarttangy/some metallic strong floral/R/mango/bit pineapple light petrol/Mosel valve oil bit metallic/tangy fairly rich (for 11.8%) beautiful flavor; very long/lingering very strong R/floral/mango some petrol finish; a beautiful Calif R that is really developing wonderfully. $23.00

1. I was mightly impressed by Steve's Bone-Dry Riesling. At only 11.8%; it is not at all lean & eviscerated. It seems to have put on weight since its release & developed a nice petrol character. as good as the Dash McFaddenRanch or Bedrock LimeKiln Rieslings; should continue to improve for another 3-6 yrs. A beautiful Riesling.
